What is the average data analyst salary?
  • For entry level data analyst, the average salary was $82,500, a significan decrease comparing with August' 88,000  - and now also below $84,000 in January.
  • Those looking for a senior data analyst position, the average salary offered was $102,000, slightly below $105,000 in August, while still significantly below start of the year ($113,000 in January).
  • Lead data analyst, are currently looking at $124,000 - a sigificant decrease comparing to $131,000 in July, while in the same line with August.

Entry level data analyst jobs summary (0 - 3 years of experience)

For those who are looking to start as a data analyst, or with couple of years of experience under their belt we have seen 35 open positions available.

Jobs are being listed across industries, with the financial, healthcare and tech sectors leading the way.

When it comes to salaries, the minimum starting salary we've seen was at $39,395, going as high as $180,000 annually.

The usual average salaries are in the $71,000 - $94,200 range

Senior data analyst salary jobs summary (3 - 5 years of experience)

Typically, more experienced analysts will work as senior data analysts - such roles will see you taking ownership of the data processes within your organisation, and usually these roles require between 3-5 years of experience.

We've seen 46 open positions available, almost 44% of listed opportunities in September.

The minimum starting salary is understandably higher than at an entry level, starting salary was at $54,000, going as high as $184,000 annually.

Financial and Tech companies were most active in their hiring efforts, with 6 senior data analyst opportunities.

The usual average salary is in the $86,000 - $118,000 range.

Lead data analyst salary jobs summary (5 - 10 years of experience)

A lead data analyst is usually a team leadership position that commonly requires at least five years of experience, as such there's usually little bit less opportunities on the market, as these roles don't only require individual performance, but also leadership skills.

We've seen 24 open positions available, at around 23% of all the jobs posted.

The minimum starting salary was at $60,000 and going as high as $253,000 annually.

The usual average salary is in the $105,000 - $144,000 range, and the Tech sector leading the number of job postings opened, with 8 open opportunities.

Final thoughts

The trend of offering employees more flexibility, and integrating work from home policies is continuing.

We are seeing over 69% of the positions allowing for at least a few days of remote working, with 32% fully remote data analyst jobs.

On the salary note, we can see that the ranges provided leave a lot of room for negotiations. Particularly it shows there's a lot of unknowns when it comes to determining the salary that company is looking to offer, and what the fair market rate for the role actually is.
