Recidiviz is building a common, open-source, technical infrastructure to help the criminal justice system achieve better outcomes (both for the public and those within the system). Job Description & Responsibilities
As a Data Analyst, you will use your background in statistical analysis, data modeling and a passion for communicating insights from data to drive business decisions. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Analyst with intermediate experience in SQL & Python to join our team. This position will report directly to the Director of Corporate Analytics.
This position offers a base salary of $95,000 along with company equity.
The Day-to-Day
You will play an important role in transforming data into actionable insights to influence data-driven decisions within our organization. This includes (but is not limited to):
- Conduct statistical analysis to identify relevant trends, patterns, and correlations in data.
- Refine & explore datasets for meaningful insights that can improve business operations.
- Effectively monitor and analyze the performance of short-term experiments to clearly communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
- Generate actionable insights and recommendations based on analysis, distilling technical methods into digestible information for non-technical audiences.
- Perform data cleansing & validation to ensure the accuracy and completeness of datasets.
- Develop, implement & maintain underlying data models to ensure business relevance, data quality, and integrity.
- Implement data validation techniques and quality checks to ensure accurate and reliable reporting.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues by collaborating with relevant teams.
- Monitor and maintain data integrity across different systems and databases.
- Collaborate and support team members.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, both technical and business stakeholders, to clearly understand requirements, desired outcomes and deliver effective solutions through formal and informal presentations.

- Starting with the obvious: you are PASSIONATE! (Seriously, you must LOVE what you do!)
- You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with complex data sets.
- You have 3+ years of analytics experience or in a similar role with demonstrable proficiency in SQL, Python and relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
- You have experience with data visualization tools (e.g. matplotlib, seaborn, Tableau, Sigma) and related best practices.
- You possess a strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- You can work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- You possess excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear and concise insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- And you have a bachelor’s degree in anything, we mean it! Business, History, Cooking (actually, that could be incredibly useful) … anything.

- Experience building and deploying predictive models.
- Experience with the Stripe API
