Data & Insights Lead job description

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct targeted desk research and analysis on major global food companies and supply chains to inform the department’s strategic direction, using best practices to ensure credibility. Leverage global industry data on laying hens and broiler chickens to produce actionable recommendations for our farmed animal welfare work.

Maintain and continuously improve tracking systems across food companies and the poultry industry. Organize, manage, and analyze large datasets to summarize key insights in applicable and understandable terms.

Communicate organizational impact and industry progress updates, using data and research to clearly identify strategic opportunities and areas of improvement.

Collaborate with team members within and across internal departments to coordinate on campaign targets, strategy, research, commitments, and actions.

Collaborate closely with Open Wing Alliance partners and other relevant external organizations to coordinate on research and insights.

Develop best practice training materials and deliver training to empower Open Wing Alliance members in critical data, monitoring, and reporting techniques.

Coordinate and participate in external engagements, including conferences, events, and protests as necessary.

Facilitate project team meetings, taking notes and ensuring effective communication.

Strategic Research: Ability to conduct thorough and credible research and analysis, including a strong understanding of research methodologies, audience, and bias. Ability to identify relevant research themes to inform our global projects, and navigate potential differences in reporting and findings.

Verbal and Written Communication: Ability to communicate technical information effectively to audiences with varying levels of scientific knowledge, adapting tone and style to different contexts to ensure understanding. Drafts well-organized reports and correspondence and delivers clear and concise presentations.

Problem Solving and Decision Making: Forward-looking thinker who anticipates needs, actively seeks opportunities, and proposes solutions. Ability to independently resolve problems and make decisions, demonstrating sound judgment and adherence to organizational policies. Provides recommendations and justifications for decisions, contributing to effective task and project management. Identifies recurring issues and suggests improvements.
