Job Description & Responsibilities
Job Description:
The Sr. Analyst, Marketing Insights will report to the Sr. Manager, Marketing Insights and supports the STARZ marketing, media strategy, and distribution departments. This role also collaborates with STARZ’s external media agency partner to test, measure, optimize, and evaluate the performance of marketing campaigns.
The candidate will need to have both a technical/statistical background as well as strong communication skills with non-technical stakeholders. The candidate needs to be driven, willing to learn, and be highly collaborative with other teams.
Responsibilities:
Partner closely with the Sr. Manager, Marketing Insights and STARZ’s external media agency to evaluate measurement plans, learning agendas, and test & learn plans proposed by the agency
Collaborate with the Sr. Manager, Marketing Insights and agency partners to prioritize, execute, and analyze A/B tests and identify opportunities for campaign optimization to ensure STARZ spends every marketing dollar as efficiently as possible
Analyze the performance of STARZ marketing initiatives, defining and utilizing KPIs that have a strong relationship to the key business objectives of internal stakeholders and contributing to a test/learn culture
Clean data and maintain data ingestion pipelines/metadata to ensure marketing database tables remain accurate and proactively identify and diagnose issues when they arise
Collaborate with internal data science team and agency partners to help develop, update, and operationalize marketing mix and other models to drive marketing efficiency and effectiveness
Build analytical queries and target audiences using SQL in advertising clean rooms (e.g., Amazon Marketing Cloud, Meta Advanced Analytics)
Distill complex analysis into data-driven narratives and presentations for non-technical stakeholders to help make better decisions and meet company goals
Create and manage Tableau dashboards for internal stakeholders and senior leadership to identify key drivers of performance and inform future marketing activities
Develop and maintain documentation in Confluence knowledge management platform
Provide I&A leadership with time-sensitive, ad-hoc analyses
Requirements
Experience & Skills
BA/BS and equivalent work experience. Strong preference for a degree in a technical field such as Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Economics
1-3 years’ experience in marketing analytics including the measurement and evaluation of both offline and online marketing tactics as well as advertising effectiveness studies (e.g., brand lift)
Programming experience in SQL and Python for data manipulation, ETL, and statistical analysis is required
Understanding of basic statistical concepts, such as descriptive and inferential statistics, hypothesis testing, statistical significance, sample size calculations, correlations, and experimental design
Strong communications skills, including the ability to distill data and insights to a variety of audiences, including senior executives
Proficiency in building PowerPoint decks
Hands on experience with data visualization tools (Tableau preferred)
Hands on experience building audiences, implementing tests, and pulling data from advertising clean rooms (examples below) a significant plus:
Amazon Marketing Cloud
Meta Advanced Analytics
Experience with the below tools a plus:
Snowflake data warehouse
Version control software (Git, Bitbucket/GitHub)
Social listening and social analytics tools (e.g., Meltwater)
Knowledge of marketing mix modelling and/or multi-touch attribution desirable
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with exceptional attention to detail
Experience in the television/entertainment industry a plus
