Data Analyst job description

The Data Analyst plays a crucial role in the design, development, and maintenance of data and analytics solutions, facilitating actionable insights for decision-making. The incumbent will collect and wrangle data from various sources, clean and prepare data, perform data analysis using statistical methods and visualization tools, and identify trends and patterns in data to answer critical business questions and uncover hidden opportunities. The Data Analyst will develop, maintain, and automate dashboards, reports, and self-service data solutions to communicate insights effectively to stakeholders across the organization. Collaboration within the team and across broader data teams, steadfast curiosity and developing and growing business acumen will be critical to this role’s success.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement technical data analytics solutions from concept to implementation in an agile environment.
  • Participate in the full systems development lifecycle, including providing estimates, gathering data analytics, and reporting requirements, profiling data, establishing designs, building queries and front-end designs, performing code reviews, quality assurance, and deploying solutions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure proper design and functionality of backend data structures and semantic layers.
  • Ensure overall data analytics solution quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Provide operational support and maintenance on data analytics and reporting solutions, performing incident and problem management, and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  • Research data issues, troubleshoot data and performance issues with queries.
  • Support upgrades, configuration, and troubleshooting for data analytics tools.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date documentation.
  • Track and respond to ad hoc data extracts, proposing new reporting solutions that promote self-service and reduce reliance on IT.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and trends for continuous improvement.
  • Comply with data governance policies and standards.
Data Analyst job requirements

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the field of Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics/Statistics.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analytics or related roles.
  • Experience with one or more data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI).
  • Experience creating intuitive user interfaces for decision support.
  • Intermediate SQL experience
  • Hands-on experience in the full systems development lifecycle for data analytics solutions.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical skills
  • Data curiosity, and strong data creation and consolidation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak to both business and technical teams and translate ideas between them.
  • Experience working with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Demonstrated understanding of database design (logical and physical, relational, and dimensional).
  • Strong knowledge of Data Lake, Data Warehouse, data analytics, and concepts.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and/or external data and processes to answer specific business questions, troubleshoot, and support solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in web analytics, preferably Google Analytics.
  • Experience with data modeling.
  • Familiarity with cloud solutions such as GCP.
  • Experience with Tableau, Looker.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis packages such as R and SAS.
  • Experience in data mining, ETL, and using databases in business environments with large-scale, complex datasets.
  • Experience with health care data.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.

The base pay range for this position is $91,350 - $111,650 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
