Data Analyst job description

Job Summary: As a Data Analyst at Mission Graduates, you will play a crucial role in driving data-driven decision making and improving program effectiveness. You will support collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide insights that inform strategic initiatives and enhance organizational impact. Additionally, you will provide essential data support services and contribute to expanding our data collection systems capabilities and data analytics. This is a hybrid position that reports to our Sr. Director of HR and Operations and our Director of Program Impact.

  • Help lead in creation of long-term vision for organization-wide data policies and systems

Key Responsibilities:

Data Collection and Systems Management:

  • Manage data collection systems, including SalesForce, Eleyo, Looker, etc.
  • Support gathering and organizing data from multiple sources, including program databases, surveys, and external datasets.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and completeness through regular validation and cleaning processes.
  • Support with data entry for various projects.
  • Support the student registration process at the beginning of each semester.
  • Support organizational data governance by working cross functionally with program teams to support the development of data policies, procedures, and standards to be used across Mission Graduates data systems. This includes managing user roles, profiles, permissions, and data access.

Data Analytics:

  • Support with performing statistical analysis and modeling to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Conduct data analysis related to program utilization, outcomes, and operations for the purposes of meeting regulatory or funding requirements, or supporting program evaluation and performance accountability needs.
  • Use software to clean, manipulate, combine, and disaggregate data to identify themes, patterns, and trends.

Data Reporting and Program Evaluation Support:

  • Generate regular reports and dashboards to track program outcomes, program finances, impact metrics, and other performance indicators.
  • Provide thought partnership on data collection methods and systems.
  • Create data visualizations that illustrate key performance metrics and insights.
  • Collaborate with program teams to translate data findings into actionable recommendations and strategies.
Data Analyst job requirements

Qualifications:

  • Analytical, self-motivated, eager to learn, a skilled communicator and – most importantly – a team player
  • Able to teach others about complex systems in a digestible manner
  • Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, social science or related field preferred
  • Passionate about education and/or social justice issues and demonstrate an understanding of the social and economic factors that contribute to systemic inequity affecting our communities.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and collaboration skills
  • Proven experience in data analysis, data management, and data visualization
  • Proficient in data analysis tools and CRMs such as Salesforce and Excel (experience with SQL, R, Stata, Python, or similar also preferred but not required)
  • Knowledgeable about nonprofit organizations or the education sector
  • Spanish fluency or competency preferred

Base salary

$75,000/yr - $85,000/yr
