Data Analyst job description

About the Role

At Solace, data is at the core of how we operate. We are a rapidly scaling startup where we work hard, move fast, and wear many hats. We are looking for a Data Analyst who thrives in this high-growth environment and excels at transforming data into actionable insights and operational improvements.

In this role, you will be a strategic partner to the business, helping us close critical gaps in our understanding of performance and efficiency. You will build the systems that help us ask better questions and figure out key insights for the path forward. As part of a collaborative and expanding team, your contributions will directly influence how we scale, optimize our workflows, and allocate resources efficiently across the company.

What You’ll Do:

Drive Operational Excellence: Proactively identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in our processes. You will serve as the bridge between raw data and business strategy, transforming complex datasets into actionable insights and operational improvements that drive the business forward.

Build Scalable Analytics: Design, implement, and maintain tracking systems and dashboards that automate manual reporting. You will ensure stakeholders have self-serve access to the metrics that matter most.

Curate the Data Layer: Collaborate with engineering to maintain clean, reliable data models. You will help refine our SQL transformations to ensure our data infrastructure scales with our growth.

Synthesize & Communicate: Translate technical findings into clear, concise recommendations for non-technical audiences. You will tell the story behind the data, helping leadership understand why trends are happening and what to do about them.

Wrangle Complex Data: Perform detailed work with structured and semi-structured data (including nested JSON) to extract relevant signals from the noise.

Data Analyst job requirements

What You Bring:

Advanced SQL & Snowflake: You are an expert at writing efficient, complex queries to extract and manipulate data from cloud data warehouses like Snowflake.

BI & Dashboarding: You have strong experience designing interactive dashboards and reports. Familiarity with Hex (or similar notebook-based BI tools) is highly preferred. Experience with Looker, Tableau, or Metabase is also valuable.

Data Wrangling Expertise: You are comfortable working with messy, real-world data, including parsing nested JSON and cleaning unstructured datasets.

Analytical Mindset: You don't just pull data; you analyze it to find the root cause of business problems.

Strong Communication: You can explain complex data concepts to product managers, operations teams, and executives alike.

Startup DNA: You are comfortable with ambiguity, ready to adapt to shifting priorities, and willing to jump in and support the team wherever needed.

Bonus Points:

dbt Experience: Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) is a plus. We value analysts who can manage their own transformations and contribute to our core data models.

Python/R: Experience using scripting languages for automation, advanced statistical analysis, or forecasting.

Process Optimization: A background in operations, where you have successfully used data to streamline workflows and reduce manual overhead.
