We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Data Analyst - Office of Development & Alumni Affairs.

In this role, the successful candidate The Data Analyst for NYU Langones Office of Development & Alumni Affairs is an experienced data professional with a passion for using analytics to enhance fundraising. They will assist in deploying analytical tools and strategies for the department and contribute to the larger strategic direction of the team.

The Data Analyst will work closely with various teams across the department to understand their data and analytical needs. They will define project scopes, gather necessary requirements, understand the collection of data, provide clear analysis, and use visualization tools. The Data Analyst will also need to communicate complex analytical output into business-friendly terminology. As an ambassador of fundraising analytics, they will assist in data literacy, governance, and education initiatives for all team members.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop analytical tools for all fundraising programs and initiatives
  • Gather requirements, create documentation in collaboration with Data Systems Team, articulate and capture project scope, and deploy data visualization tools
  • Create forecasting analyses and tools for strategic planning purposes
  • Use statistical and mathematical approaches to business problems
  • Capture technical documentation such as data dictionaries, source to target mapping, and code repositories
  • Use version control tools to maintain coding lineage
  • Partner with the Data Systems Team to inform ad hoc data requests and end-user support for issues related to reports and fundraising systems
  • Research new methodologies in analytics to improve overall team performance, team knowledgebase and tool suite
  • Work within data warehouse, developing queries that support fundraising analytics
  • Assist with the adoption of new campaign or constituent CRM technologies within our fundraising digital experience platform
  • Provide accurate, formatted information for immediate operational use at all departmental levels
  • Combine data from multiple sources to assist in the analysis of projects
  • Validate data thoroughly to ensure integrity
  • Map and visualize data lineage
  • Perform data analysis including but not limited to: correlation, impact, distribution, trending and projection
  • Assist with the documentation of business processes and data flows
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Blackbaud CRM and Luminate Online
  • Work closely with other team members within a matrixed environment on the implementation of new technology and or data/analytic projects
  • Other duties/projects as assigned
Data Analyst job requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree required; Graduate degree preferred
  • 4-5+ years of experience in data analytics, visualization, and modeling
  • Experience Working In Healthcare Development Preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of coding languages to build and deploy visuals and other applications
  • Advanced use of SQL Server Business Intelligence Tools, R, Python and other analytical/report query tools
  • Strong Server and Database Skills: Particularly with the MS SQL Server platform; Writing queries in SQL; Writing Stored Procedures
  • Knowledge of Application Databases, Relational Databases, Report Servers and SQL
  • Experience using and maintaining code repositories such as Git and Azure
  • Advanced Experience In Tableau Or Other Data Visualization Tools
  • Data Mining & Statistics: Familiarity with data mining tools and technologies and/or statistical packages
  • Uses R/Python packages such as glmnet, xgboost, Panta Rhei, plotly, floWeaver, sklearn, and pyGAM
  • Familiar with RShiny, streamlit, and other open-source visualization tools
  • BBCRM experience helpful
  • Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to translate highly technical information for a non-technical recipient
