Data Analyst job description

As part of the Enterprise Operations Organization that provides support to XL's Underwriting businesses, Programs is an Operations Unit which supports Underwriting operations focusing on the operational aspects of the business for both the XL Underwriters and external Program Administrators. This position supports the North America Programs Underwriting Business.

The Data Analyst is part of the Middle Office Regulatory Operation Unit and works closely with external TPAs (Third Party Adminstrators) and PAs (Programs Administrators) in the mass transfer of claim and premium electronic data into the AXA XL applications (WINS/XLGC). This includes reviewing the monthly data transmissions and working with the production source to eliminate discrepancies of the electronic data feed. Coordinating the monthly electronic processing to ensure receipt of data, successful posting of financial and statistical records within WINS and error correction/reconciliation process. Also includes supporting various business units to ensure that all necessary reporting needs are met and all AXA XL interfaced downstream systems maintain high data quality.

  • Coordinates the review and delivery of data specification to new clients.
  • Assists clients in the development of the electronic interface data requirements.
  • Serves as the liaison between AXA XL and the TPA IT staff to ensure financial and statistical integrity of electronic data posted to WINS.
  • Reviews test data transmissions, and work with the production source to eliminate discrepancies of the electronic data feed.
  • Coordinates the monthly electronic processing to ensure receipt of data, successful posting of financial and statistical records within WINS, and error correction and reconciliation process.
  • Supports various business units to ensure that all necessary reporting needs are met, and all XL interfaced downstream systems maintain high data quality.
  • Provides assistance as needed for projects relating to the TPA claims data transfer.
  • Provides support for the implementation and testing process of new TPAs.
Data Analyst job requirements
  • Some years experience in Insurance industry practices, procedures and programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Proven efficiency in ability to multitask, with attention to detail
  • Oustanding interpersonal skills in order to work effectively and professionally with diverse groups
  • Proven organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proven prioritization and time management skills with accurate results
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office suite of products (MS Excel, Access, Word, etc)
  • Experience with WINS, Global Claim System, MS Query & SQL preferred;
  • Flexible team player who can work in a fast-paced environment ambiguity exists and priorities are subject to change.
  • Account Reconciliation experience a plus
  • Quality control experience.
