Data Analyst, Business Reporting job description

Under the direction of the VP, Business Analytics Manager, the Business Reporting and Data Analyst will work closely with department staff, technical team members, project managers, business users, and IT staff to deliver from minor enhancements to complex projects. The individual will be researching and analyzing information, anticipating and recognizing problems and opportunities, creatively developing possible solutions, evaluating alternatives and, using sound judgment, determine the best course of action. The ideal candidate will be a driven individual who is logical, analytical and detailed oriented, has some mortgage experience, and has a good understanding of database administration. This position will be part of the CL Business Analytics team, which develops reporting and routines to ensure consistent communication between Correspondent Lending and related corporate counterparties.

Responsibilities

What we are looking for:

  • Compile analytical and statistical reports as needed
  • Formulate, define and recommend scope and format of reports
  • Oversee provision of ad hoc management reports
  • Review information for accuracy and reconciles data on a regular basis
  • Provide internal and external data needs
  • Define, review and implement best practices for data entry, software security, reporting and information management within database
  • Map and load data into development environments
  • Elicit business and functional requirements and document them in JIRA / Confluence / Atlassian
  • Develops and creates management reporting, including monthly business review materials and presentations
  • Perform at a high departmental service levels, production, and quality standards
  • Apply applicable theories and concepts to interpret data, provide analysis and observations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Economics, Statistics, Software Engineering, other associated fields, or equivalent work experience (Master's Degree preferred)
  • Thorough understanding of frameworks, analytics, programming languages, design, databases and operating systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Prior experience in relational databases, Microsoft SQL Server, and Excel VBA is a plus
  • A firm understanding of mortgage banking, correspondent lending, and mortgage finance is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Organized, responsible, and ability to use good judgment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment, and to manage multiple deadlines
  • Effective at managing multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meeting deadlines and working well under pressure
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
What we offer at Western Alliance Bank

Salary range for new hires is generally $69,299.21 – $85,605. Salary amount reflects Southern California, salary is determined by specific job location. In addition, the role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned.
