Data Analyst job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Data Analyst, Financial Data Governance and Quality.

In this role, the successful candidate for the Data Analyst, Financial Data Governance and Quality, will report to the Assistant Manager, Financial Data Governance and Quality. In this role, the Data Analyst will be responsible for the maintenance and analysis of data within Peoplesoft and other financial enterprise applications. This includes but not limited to maintaining the approval workflow hierarchy, troubleshooting workflow related issues, building queries for data analysis, data metrics gathering, and data cleanup as necessary. The Data Analyst must be capable of completing multiple tasks with precision and timeliness in a fast paced environment. Having the ability to adapt to and utilize new technology, and communicating effectively with all levels in the institution including senior leadership is essential..

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide customer support and resolve Salesforce tickets or emails sent to group mailbox related to PeopleSoft including but not limited to approval workflow and security for enterprise reporting tools in a timely manner
  • Perform user security administration for financial reporting applications i.e. PeopleSoft Business Intelligence
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing for PeopleSoft upgrades, enhancements, and defects related to PeopleSoft Authorization and other modules as assigned
  • Analyze and perform data updates to PeopleSoft Authorization master data
  • Monitor new chartstring creation and assign workflow approvers as appropriate
  • Perform routine reviews of terminated users and department change reports in PeopleSoft Authorization and coordinate with Departments to update accordingly
  • Collect and analyze financial data and assist Assistant Manager to create definitions, standards, and consistency in use of financial data across the institution
  • Establishing master data dictionary of PS tables and assist in securely administering PSF data connections
  • Support ad hoc data queries and reports as needed by Management/Leadership
  • Become subject matter expert (SME) of data analytic applications for the data Management/Governance teams and assist with streamlining existing processes using data analytics tools
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Assistant Manager
Data Analyst job requirements

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree with a major in a business subject (e.g. accounting, finance, economics) or information systems/technology and minimum of 1-2 years of related work experience. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, excellent communication with various audiences, and meticulous attention to detail are required. Must be well versed in Excel, SQL, and past working experience with ERP environment application (PeopleSoft in particular) is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

Work experience as an analyst working with data mining, reporting, or systems is preferred.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $69,970.78 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
