Data Analyst job description

We are looking for a Data Analytics professional to help the Chief Data Office Business Intelligence team support our business partners in the development and expansion of our insights and data analytics activities. The role requires a rare combination of sophisticated analytical expertise, business acumen, strategic mindset, client, relationship, and project management, and a passion for building new capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of an insights and analytics capability within the Chief Data Office that will continue to evolve over time.

In this role, you will extract and analyze data to to provide business intelligence and analytical insights to our business partners. You will be using a variety of data sources (internal/external) and analytical techniques (descriptive, diagnostic, prescriptive) to drive business outcomes. The desired candidate has:

  • A passion for synthesizing and analyzing data to provide key insights and solve business challenges
  • A passion to make data analytics and insights actionable throughout the organization
  • A passion and innovative mind for identifying new opportunities for insights and analytics
  • A passion for working in a collaborative environment, within the team and with business partners

Responsibilities

  • Extract, integrate and analyze multiple disparate data sources from a variety of systems, such as structured and unstructured data, speech analytics, social media, digital footprints, customer behavior, financial information, secondary sources, as appropriate, with a goal to discover meaningful implications for businesses to make concrete business decisions
  • Mine data to uncover patterns and to identify business trends and new opportunities for using analytics
  • Apply a variety of analytical techniques, from descriptive to prescriptive, to solve complex business challenges
  • Develop self-service data visualization tools that give our business partners the ability to have data insights at their fingertips
  • Present analysis results in a non-technical manner with appropriate conclusions and actionable insights
Data Analyst job requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science or other technical discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of prior work experience extracting data, applying a variety of business analytics and statistical analytics techniques, and synthesizing information into business intelligence reports/dashboards
  • Programming proficiency in SAS, SQL, R, Python, or AWS tools. Experience with Hadoop and AWS data technology is desired
  • Data visualization experience with Tableau or PowerBI
  • PowerPoint and Excel experience
  • Superior problem-solving mindset and skills
  • Strong project management skills. Familiarity with an agile working environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present results and identify key insights from the data
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Financial services industry experience is a plus
What we offer at Prudential Financial

The salary range for this role is from $68,400.00 to $101,900.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
