Data Analyst job description

Location: Minneapolis, KS or Sidney, NE office (dependent on candidate’s location)

Support data-driven decision-making and process automation in an aggressive entrepreneurial business. Huyett, a fast-growing master distributor and manufacturer of industrial fasteners, has made a firm strategic commitment to embracing data analytics as a core competency. This role will serve on a team that delivers user-friendly analytical tools and reports that enable managers to see trends and draw inferences from what is otherwise a complex business, encompassing tens of thousands of products, customers, and a wide array of market channels and end markets. This role touches financial accounting, sales, marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, and nearly every other major operational area. Through time this role will continue to connect and network data analytics to the enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Regular, constant, and consistent support of data quality and quantity, including data validation and corrective action
  • Continuous maintenance and management of database systems and security pursuant to policies, goals, and best practices
  • Development of data analytics tools, interfaces, and reports that are user-friendly, efficient in development, and documented for future users and analysts
  • Creative and self-directed actions to improve data visualization and the overall objective of the role within the context of workflow and process developments in the firm
  • Effective project management of more complex tools designs, encompassing regular user-community input, management reporting, and resource deployment
Data Analyst job requirements

Huyett invests in the learning and professional development journey of all teammates. The ideal candidate possesses excellent research, data analysis, and communication skills with accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task. Furthermore, the ideal candidate must be a team player and perform assigned tasks on time, within scope, and within budget. Previous programming skills are not required but preferred. All candidates will be trained on the technical aspects of the role. Specific preferred technical focus areas and competencies include:

  • Strong skills using Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel
  • Experience in data modeling for ad-hoc visualization and analytical applications
  • Experience in using SQL to analyze data in a database
  • Experience designing and developing business-facing dashboards and data visualizations in BI platforms preferred
  • Experiencing programming and aggregating data in Microsoft PowerBI utilizing DAX programming language desired
