Data Analyst, Environmental job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically capable Environmental Data Analyst to join our Data Management and Visualization team. We offer the opportunity to collaborate closely with colleagues and clients on challenging projects in the fields of geotechnical engineering, environmental geology, risk assessment, and natural-resource management. This is a full-time position located in our Portland, ME, Manchester, NH, Boston, MA, Harford, CT, New York City, NY, New Jersey, NJ, Washington, DC, Richmond, VA, Washington, DC, or Greenville, SC. A remote position may be considered for a highly qualified candidate.

Duties/Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage and analyze environmental data for all types of environmental investigations.
  • Create and/or improve processes to increase efficiency and data quality.
  • Approach each task, regardless of size and scope, as an opportunity to rethink the conventional ways data is collected, managed, visualized, and delivered.
  • Produce concise, clear, and compelling data products with a keen eye for aesthetics, accuracy, and details.
  • Provide guidance in value-added ways for our scientists and engineers to leverage data to make informed decisions.
  • Work closely with teams working in other offices across the US.
  • Understand project requirements and client needs.
Data Analyst, Environmental job requirements

Skills/Experience

  • BS/BA degree in geology, environmental science, chemistry, mathematics, statistics, or related subject with minimum 10 years of environmental data management and analysis experience in environmental consulting industry.
  • Strong SQL skills including T-SQL scripting and querying.
  • Demonstratable ability to manage environmental data throughout its life cycle from field sampling through reporting and analysis.
  • Adept at using environmental relational database management systems such as EQuIS.
  • Ability to manage and report chemicals commonly encountered in typical environmental investigations including RCRA metals, VOCs, SVOCs, fuels, chlorinated solvents, and PCBs.
  • Knowledge of Federal and state environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Skilled at determining the best way to present tabular data depending on project needs.
  • Experience preparing data for integrated visualization and spatial analysis in platforms such as ArcGIS.
  • Desirable, but not required experience with:
  • Environmental sampling and reporting
  • Risk assessment and statistical analysis
  • Experience with PFAS chemicals
  • Mobile field-data collection, processing, and integration

The salary range for this position in New York, NY is $90,000 - $130,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to ensure we are competitive in the current market.
