Using the latest analytic tools and processes, we’re able to analyze our data to provide strategic insight leading to transformational change. To carry us even further, we are seeking a Data Analyst to join our expanding, problem-solving team, supporting our Long-Term Care Data Insights and Strategy team. You will harness the power of data, critical thinking, curiosity and an eye for detail to enhance analytic insights and business strategy for our customers and processes to support critical initiatives that will transform the landscape of Long-Term Care Insurance.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop knowledge around new and existing datasets associated with policies, claims and customers
  • Maintain critical data reporting and analysis, running on data infrastructures supporting key business initiatives: including reporting, dashboards, cost/benefit analysis and decision impact
  • Directly support various Senior Leaders by leveraging data, providing analytic insights and tracking results
  • Uncover impactful data insights; recommend new strategies and develop custom approaches/techniques in the Long-Term Care market
  • Utilize strong programming skills to explore, examine and interpret large data sets in various forms
  • Communicate progress, insights and analytic findings via oral and written methods, including a mature command of data visualization methods
  • Build relationships with business partners and senior leaders across the business foster collaboration, manage project progress and communicate project results
  • Handle ad hoc requests from customers in a timely fashion identifying core business problem, gather relevant customer requirements and develop analytical solutions
  • Present business insights to stakeholders

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in an analytical or technical discipline
  • At least 3 years of analyst experience in a dynamic environment. Expertise obtained through progressive analytical and operational work experience.
  • Critical thinker with the ability to leverage quantitative and qualitative data to support business strategy and execution
  • Results-oriented with the ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency and accountability for your work
  • Self-motivated with a drive for results
  • Strong verbal/written communications skills to non-technical audiences
  • Expertise in Excel
  • Hands on Intermediate to advanced SQL/SAS or other programming language ability
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, Business Power Intelligence or Business Objects)

Nice to have

  • Life/LTC Insurance product and claims process knowledge
  • Database/ETL experience
  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Subject matter expertise in advanced analytical and modeling data capabilities utilizing Python and/or R
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Databricks, AWS/Azure)

For the State of New York:

The base salary pay range for this role starts at a minimum rate of $82,400 up to the maximum of $136,100. In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible to participate in an incentive plan. The incentive plan is based on performance and the target earning opportunity is 7% of your base compensation. The final determination on base pay for this position will be based on multiple factors at the time of this job posting including but not limited to geographic location, experience, and qualifications to ensure pay equity within the organization.
