Data Analyst, Financial job description

The Financial Data Analyst II role has been developed as part of our process improvement initiative and will report to the Finance Process Transformation Senior Advisor, Global Business Support. Incumbent will work with multiple departments and ensure quality of SAP master data as well as consistency across integrated financial platforms. The key objects include but not limited to Companies, Chart of Accounts, Business Partners, Cost Centers and Profit Centers. Incumbent must have the ability to develop relationships functionally within finance, other support functions and key business users in a high-impact role as master data quality is key to reliable financial reporting. While the master data lifecycle is not as frequent as the operational data produced by other processes, it is critical and must be secured by a clear governance process. Adopting best practices now are needed to prepare us for the transition onto a Global platform. The position will evolve towards a Master Data Steward role within ENGIE’s ongoing initiative for Global Enterprise Transformation (GET).

This position will sit in Houston, TX and report to the Finance Process Transformation Senior Advisor, GBS

What you’ll do:

  • Under the supervision and validation of the Finance Process Transformation Senior Advisor, you will be for responsible for managing Master Data Requests for SAP and integrated financial systems
  • Fulfill master data requests related to but not be limited to Company Codes, Trading Partners, Business Partners, Chart of Accounts, Functional Areas, Cost and profit centers
  • Perform front end review for consistency, completeness and accuracy based on business requirements thereby preventing errors that delay reporting or cause errors
  • Facilitate strong change management among relevant business functions/teams. E.g. IT, Accounting, Planning, Treasury, Tax, Finance, Legal, Business Development and Operations
  • Participate in system related project activities as requested, including review and testing of system updates
  • Assist with upgrades to SAP or related tools involving master data and when needed, perform testing of changes to configuration and approve implementation
  • Performs other related duties and assists on assigned projects as required

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with preference for business administration or Information technology
  • A Minimum of (2)+ years' of process improvement experience
  • Previous experience and good understanding of master data processes
  • Knowledge of system architecture with preference for SAP products such as S4 HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud or SAP Financial Consolidation
  • Deep understanding of the importance of master data management across financial systems and geographies
  • Ability and appetite to work in a project and transversal mode with other support functions and operations
  • Extremely collaborative, very strong interpersonal and communication skills, project management capabilities
  • Willingness to improve efficiency and quality of service of the Finance function
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other MS Office suite products preferred
