Data Analyst, Health job description

Support the strategic output of the internal data analytics platform (IDAP), and develop and deliver actionable analytics that will drive program and design changes for Alliant clients. Work closely with the Health & Productivity, Analytics, and Benefits Consulting teams.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Identify and analyze micro and macro trends in clinical claims data to find actionable opportunities to drive program and design changes, and cost containment solutions for clients.
  • Leverage health claims data to identify areas of risk and support Health & Productivity and Benefits Consulting teams to recommend innovative health strategies for clients to mitigate health claims costs.
  • Attend client meetings with Health & Productivity and Benefit Consulting teams to determine client reporting needs, and support presentation of findings to clients.
  • Support the collection of data from multiple sources to provide credible and reliable performance data, and manipulate the clinical data in a meaningful format for client presentations and internal dashboards.
  • Support optimization of input and output of clinical and programmatic data to create efficiencies in data use across Alliant teams.
  • Partner with the Health & Productivity, Analytics, and Benefits Consulting teams to support the evaluation and management of employer solutions.
  • Support the data integration, management and evaluation of health care vendors (i.e. point solutions).
  • Perform all duties in accordance with all company policies and procedures, and all federal, state and local laws, wherein the Company operates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Data Analyst, Health job requirements

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three (3) or more years work experience in the insurance industry focused on medical and pharmacy claims data evaluation
  • Experience with data aggregation and analysis, specifically clinical data
  • Data visualization experience

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Power BI as well as Tableau
  • Strong analytical and data aggregation skills
  • Skill in communicating effectively, verbally and in writing, as appropriate for the needs of the audience
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to clearly communicate actionable recommendations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple groups and build strategic relationships with others
  • Ability to be self-directed on day-to-day work and projects
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions, distractions, and a fluctuating workload
  • Proficiency in database programming languages such as R and SQL in addition to ability to use data manipulation tools such as Python
