Data Analyst, Health Informatics job description
  • This is a hybrid role - must be within commutable distance to work out of Austin, TX; or Milwaukee, WI***

The Health Informatics Data Analyst transforms data into knowledge. This position supports the holistic HIV care model at Vivent Health by combining a strong understanding and experience with healthcare database structures and architecture, strong programming and scripting skills, experience with business intelligence and visualization tools with an intimate knowledge of the Vivent Health data landscape. The Health Informatics Data Analyst also utilizes expertise in machine learning and predictive analytics modeling to unlock hidden insights within the Vivent Health data ecosystem.

Essential Functions

  • Gathers requirements, understands technical capabilities, and identifies solutions to meet the analytic needs of internal stakeholders and business partners from across the organization.
  • Develops and supports an analytics pipeline to query, compile, organize, and integrate healthcare data from disparate sources, including an enterprise electronic health record (Epic Systems), an HIV Care Management/Social Services application (Provide Enterprise), and other disparate data sources.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains other applications and processes as necessary to complete the overall analytics framework.
  • Designs and implements a variety of analytic and data visualization tools (interactive dashboards, reports, spreadsheets, etc.) which communicate insights to clinical and operational stakeholders and leaders in a clear and concise manner. Trains stakeholders on the proper use of these tools as needed.
  • Validates analytic tools prior to production deployment.
  • Utilizes feedback and experiential information to optimize various components of the Analytics framework following Production deployment.
  • Collaborates with leadership to identify predictive analytics use cases, then develops and implements machine learning models and algorithms to realize these predictive analytics use cases.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Healthcare, Informatics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of data analysis and analytics experience in a healthcare environment utilizing one or more Analytics and Business Intelligence platforms and data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Crystal Reports, Business Objects, or Power BI.
  • 2+ years of experience with Epic Systems - Chronicles, Clarity, Cogito, Caboodle, Clinical Data model, and Access data model. Certification in one or more of these tools and data models is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with relational and hierarchical database architectures commonly utilized within healthcare and database programming and scripting languages, including SQL, R, and Python.
  • Experience with extract, transform and load frameworks, such as Alteryx or Talend, is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience developing machine learning and predictive modeling algorithms is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the HIV continuum of care is preferred.
