HR Data Analyst job description

The HR Data Analyst will focus on compiling data, statistical analysis, and interpret data to identify trends. This position will leverage various data sources to tell the story and deliver results. You will help find opportunities for using people metrics and analytics to improve HR performance and drive business performance. As an individual contributor you collaborate with all functions of HR to interpret and take action on insights through People Analytics solutions. The person who will be successful in this role has excellent analytical and problem-solving skills combined with a passion to take initiative along with exceptional professional communication skills. Additionally, you thrive in a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking and collaboration is essential.

Key Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions

  • Extract, prepare and compile data and complete statistical analyses review and interpret data and results to determine goals progress, to identify deficiencies problems, and trends.
  • Develop and maintain HR reports and dashboards, presenting data and findings to key stakeholders in a concise manner using data visualization tools.
  • Lead specific HR and workforce reporting and analytics projects, managing stakeholder expectations and deliverables.
  • Ensure data integrity with the Workday HRIS
  • Build and maintain relationships with HR and business users to assist them with using and understanding HR data and metrics.
  • Prioritize and scope analytics projects/products efforts based on the value to the business.
  • Enhance current reporting deliverables while exploring new and innovative ways to report and examine HR data.
  • Lead the design and implementation of data models to support HR decision-making.
  • Work with HR and business leaders to identify opportunities for using data and analytics to drive HR initiatives.
  • Provide thought-leadership on report results, trends, and recommendations, particularly around the responsible use of AI/ML in business.
  • Help shape the advanced analytics strategy for HR and stay current on industry trends/best practices in people analytics and HR data science.
  • Contributing to and supporting broad Human Resources programs with many cross-functional stakeholders.
HR Data Analyst job requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in data analytics or business intelligence – Experience in people analytics preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the ability to contextualize and leverage data and metrics to inform change to advise stakeholder and improve performance.
  • Proficiency in HR systems and tools, with experience in data analysis, reporting, and visualization (e.g., HRIS (Workday preferred), Excel, Power BI or Tableau).
  • Proven history with displaying statistical analysis (e.g. regression analysis, standard distributions) in an easy-to understand manner.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, nested formulas, matrix statements, other complicated formulas). Macro writing preferred, but not required.
  • Functional understanding of the mechanics of big data and machine learning (e.g. Bayesian, Neural Networks or similar) as a foundation for AI preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present data and findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proven record of accomplishment prioritizing and handling multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Discretion, integrity, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Moderate or advanced keyboard usage
  • Limited travel may be required

Base Pay Range: Annualized salary range offered for this position is estimated to be $85,000 - $100,000. However, the actual pay range depends on each candidate’s experience, location, and qualifications.

Variable Pay: Discretionary annual bonus, based on personal and company performance.
