Job Description & Responsibilities
Main Purpose of the Role:
AEW is seeking an Investment Data Analyst to join its Real Estate Securities investment team, supporting all facets of the investment process. This is a highly analytical, data-driven role ideal for early career candidates who enjoy working on large datasets, building models and using technology to solve real estate investment problems. You’ll work closely with the senior investment team to support the full investment process – turning complex data into insights that inform real-world, portfolio-level decisions. Prior exposure to real estate markets is not required. We welcome candidates from quantitative and technical backgrounds who are eager to learn investing through hands-on analysis.
Responsibilities:
Analyze public real estate companies, property sectors and macroeconomic data to identify trends and anomalies
Build, maintain and enhance financial and analytical models used in investment decision-making
Manage and validate large datasets to ensure accuracy and reliability of investment analysis
Automate and improve recurring analytical workflows using Excel VBA, Python or BI tools
Contribute data, exhibits and market commentary to quarterly investment reports and presentations
Collaborate closely with a small, team-oriented investment group and cross-functional partners
Requirements
Skills/Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Statistics)
Strong excel skills (including VBA /macros) and experience with Python or R
Solid foundation in financial analysis, modeling and data analysis
Exceptional attention to detail, intellectual curiosity and problem-solving mindset
Clear written and verbal communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative environment
What we offer
Compensation:
At AEW, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The base pay for this role is between $70,000 - $90,000. Your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, internal equity, and market conditions. Additional compensation and benefits include:
