Lead Data Analyst job description

Primary Duties:

  • This position may have up to 6 direct reports made up of the following positions types: Processors, Underwriting Processor, Analyst 1, Sr. Analysts and//or Underwriter staff. Duties also include overseeing, training and mentoring for projects and tasks.
  • Provide ad hoc data analysis in variety of source systems and using a variety of data analysis tools / languages (SQL, Teradata, Tableau, Excel, Access). Identify and analyze trends with root cause analysis while providing solutions.
  • Design, build and maintain data acquisition and transformation scripts using the following languages: Java, Python, Bash, Tableau, and SQL.
  • Design, build, and maintain reporting that measures performance of KPIs such as Service Quality, Growth, Turnover, Efficiencies, and Accuracy. Develop internal reports on expenses, incentive programs, initiatives, and performance goals and results, including ad-hoc reports as needed. Organize projects clearly with accurate plan for speed of delivery of initiatives.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by management.
Lead Data Analyst job requirements

Education:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or technical field (math, statistics, computer science, engineering) with Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in a traditional data or analytics corporate environment.
  • Knowledge / Skills / Competencies
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Advanced leadership skills required
  • Ability to analyze, organize and recognize priorities required
  • Ability to lead meetings and communicate effectively required
  • Advanced skills in using Microsoft Access/ Project/ Word/ Excel skills (incl. VBA, macros, complex calculations, etc.) required
  • Strong SQL skills with data mining knowledge.
  • Tableau experience required.
  • Python a plus.
  • Able to rapidly learn new processes, databases, applications.
  • Innovative mindset with demonstrated creativity or innovation in some past work experience preferred.

This is primarily an office job. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, bending and lifting (up to 15 pounds). Approximately 98% of time is spent using a video display terminal.

The starting pay range for this position is:

$101,000.00 - $134,700.00
