The Data Analyst will be directly responsible for driving exploratory analysis, supporting the use of Tropic’s data products by both internal & external users, and leading the collection and distribution of new and impactful insights that create value for Tropic’s customers.

This is a role positioned for growth. As the Data Analyst familiarizes themself with our Analytic stack and products, we expect them to spearhead new advancements in our Analytic, Data Science, or Data Engineering capabilities depending on their preference and aptitude. Senior Data Analyst job requirements

What You’ve Done

  • 4+ years of data analysis and/or data science experience, with a strong preference for those with prior experience in small working groups that required a “full-stack” mindset.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to produce and deliver data analysis that guided decision making or delivered significant value to customers.
  • Experience improving data integrity through strong processes and standards that are shared with and understood by a larger organization

What You’re Good At

  • Strong SQL knowledge - use of CTEs, window functions and temp tables are common here. Writing readable SQL, and being able to interpret others’ code is a premium skill.
  • Strong proficiency with Tableau-like BI and dashboarding tools. We use Sigma, but experience in anything is fine as long as you are willing to learn and adapt to different features.
  • Strong analytical skills with good instincts around both content and the format of delivery to stakeholders. We don’t want everything to turn into a dashboard.
  • Stakeholder management - we want someone who can deeply empathize with those they work with, defend and stick to agreed upon priorities and timelines.
  • Motivated to learn new approaches and tools. We want someone who knows how to solve problems in more ways than just asking someone else how to do it.
  • Strong prioritization and project management skills with the ability to own entire workstreams. Should be able to communicate priorities and timelines clearly.
  • Strong bias towards collaboration.
  • Experience with SQL orchestration tools and Git is a plus. We use Dataform, but dbt experience is totally transferable.
  • Experience in more robust coding languages is a plus (Python, R and Java)
  • Experience working in a startup environment or another fast-paced environment where strategy and priorities quickly shift is a plus
