Senior Data Analyst job description

Role Overview:

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will be instrumental in shaping our strategic decisions and operational efficiencies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including strategy, business operations, and physical operations to drive the business forward by delivering actionable insights, clear storytelling using data, and crafting compelling data visualizations. Your expertise in SQL, Python/R, and other data and analytics tools will drive key insights that inform both long-term strategic planning and day-to-day improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis & Reporting:
Extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets using SQL and advanced analytics techniques.
Develop automated reporting solutions and dashboards that provide business insights.

Advanced Analytics & Modeling:
Build and validate predictive models using Python or R to forecast business trends and operational challenges.
Develop sophisticated data models that capture the nuances of our business operations and performance.

Data Visualization:
Design and maintain highly polished and dynamic dashboards and visualizations that communicate data findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable analytics projects.
Present insights and recommendations to executive leadership and other key stakeholders.

Strategic & Operational Support:
Partner with strategy and business operations teams to develop data-driven strategies that optimize performance and drive growth.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvements.

Process Improvement & Innovation:
Continuously identify opportunities to enhance data processes and methodologies.
Act as a thought leader in data analytics, contributing to the overall data strategy of the company.

Senior Data Analyst job requirements

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, or a related field.

Experience:

4+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data science roles.
Demonstrable experience in the technology industry or at a startup is a plus.

Technical Proficiency:

Expert-level SQL skills.

Proven experience with data warehousing in Snowflake, data transformation with dbt, and data visualization (e.g. Sigma Computing, Tableau, or Looker)

Proficiency in advanced analytics.

Strong coding skills in Python or R.

Soft Skills:

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate across departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in tech startups or other dynamic technology companies.

Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).

Experience with growth analytics, marketing analytics and MarTech tools.

What we offer at Fanatics

In NYC, the salary range for this position is $144,000 - $180,000, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. In Los Angeles, the salary range for this position is $132,000 - $165,000. The listed salary ranges are specific to Los Angeles or NYC and may not be applicable to other locations. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
