Senior Data Analyst job description

The Role

As a Senior Data Analyst, you’ll play a key role in shaping our data-driven culture. Your day-to-day will blend technical problem-solving with strategic thinking—developing metrics frameworks, optimizing reporting pipelines, and uncovering insights that guide Product, Design, Engineering and other key business areas. Using SQL, Tableau, and advanced analytics techniques, you’ll transform raw data into actionable insights, empowering stakeholders with the clarity they need. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to define success, measure impact, and drive continuous improvement.

You’ll have the opportunity to mentor others and foster a culture of innovation by using data to drive product enhancements and business improvements. Whether designing experiments, optimizing user experiences, or translating insights into action, your work will directly contribute to better business outcomes and customer experiences.

Responsibilities:

Develop automated reports and dashboards to support product and business operations, ensuring data accessibility and efficiency.

Analyze complex datasets using SQL and Tableau to uncover trends, drive actionable insights, and influence product roadmaps and executive decisions.

Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to deliver data-driven solutions that align with business goals.

Apply advanced analytics and statistical methods to identify key business trends and optimize decision-making.

Design and implement scalable data models that integrate multiple sources, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and accessibility.

Effectively communicate insights and analysis results to stakeholders across SimplePractice, highlighting opportunities to better serve both the business and its customers.

Mentor team members and act as a data subject matter expert, driving best practices in analytics and reporting.

Senior Data Analyst job requirements

Desired Skills & Experience:

7 years of experience in data analysis and analytics, with a proven track record of mentoring team members.

Advanced knowledge of data analysis tools and programming languages such as SQL and Python.

Experience building dashboards and visualizations in Tableau or similar BI tools.

Ability to interpret complex data using advanced analytics, such as predictive modeling, to forecast trends and optimize business outcomes.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to multiple stakeholders.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects and effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders.

Enthusiastic about data and analytics, learning new techniques and skills, and working with data scientists and engineers.

Bonus Points:

Experience with dbt Cloud or similar tools

Knowledge of ETL pipelines and data warehouse best practices

Knowledge of techniques such as regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and multivariate analysis.
