Senior Data Analyst job description

EVgo is seeking a highly experienced Senior GIS Analyst with intermediate data science skills to join our Network Planning and Data Strategy team. This team is responsible for directing the expansion of our growing footprint, using analytics and various spatial and statistical models.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing GIS along with some data science expertise to support a range of projects and initiatives. They will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to design, develop, and implement GIS solutions and data-driven analyses that support decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret complex spatial and non-spatial data to create informative maps, visualizations, and reports that provide actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Work in conjunction with the EVgo Construction team, to locate and prioritize areas of opportunities based on various economic and geographical variables.
  • Develop and maintain GIS databases, datasets, and tools to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of spatial and non-spatial data.
  • Maintain the EVgo proprietary GIS front end applications which provide direction and guidance to the overall organization.
  • Apply some basic to intermediate statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze large and complex datasets and develop predictive models, including clustering, time-series, decision-trees and random forest.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement GIS solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior GIS analysts and data scientists.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest GIS and data science trends, techniques, and technologies and recommend innovative solutions that improve the quality and efficiency of GIS workflows.
Senior Data Analyst job requirements

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in GIS and spatial analysis.
  • 1+ years of Data Science and predictive/statistical experience.
  • Strong proficiency in GIS software, including ArcGIS, QGIS, and/or Open Source GIS.
  • Experience in data science software, including R, Python, or similar tools.
  • Expertise in spatial analysis, data visualization, and database management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

For job positions in CA, CO, and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $110,000 USD to $130,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, discretionary target cash bonus, and restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval). EVgo offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, life, and disability insurance, unbounded paid time off including parental leave, and a 401(k) plan.
